This assignment was to choose any topic and create an editorial style book highlighting our subject. This project began in my sophomore year of college and I have since revisited and revised it for my portfolio. I am constantly growing as a designer and learning new things, so I wanted to apply my newfound knowledge to an existing project.
I began by deconstructing the original piece to its basic design essentials and from there built it again from the ground up. This redesigned piece was a study on the relationship between type and white space.
PRODUCT.
I chose to create an editorial book highlighting the making of the film The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. This film is a comfort movie for me and I wanted to share the beauty of it through design. This re-imagined piece kept the same subject matter as the original project, but utilized new typography skills with a new design. This fictional book is compiled of articles written about the making of The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.
